Unsurprisingly, Grossberg also devoted himself to the world-famous Schwebebahn (suspension railway) in his many depictions of Elberfeld. Inaugurated in 1901, it remains the city's landmark to this day and is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The construction of the elevated railway must have fascinated Grossberg, a technology enthusiast, from an early age.
From an elevated viewpoint, the ink drawing shows the Schwebebahn occupying the lower part of the picture, backed by houses at different heights. A staircase typical of Wuppertal can also be seen. The Schwebebahn stop at Pestalozzistraße is probably depicted here.
