‘Museum A to Z’ provides a guide from the beginning of the Von der Heydt-Museum into a possible future. The exhibition works up the collection’s diverse range and its history. And it poses the question, what a museum is or should be today.
The topics will be arranged alphabetically in German from A as in »Aufgaben« (Tasks) through C as in »Chronologie« (Chronology), H as in »Herkunft der Objekte« (Origin of the artefacts), P as in »Provenienzforschung« (Provenance research), S as in »Sammeln und Sortieren« (Collecting and sorting), T as in »Teilhabe« (Participation) through to Z as in »Zukunft« (Future).
The exhibition also draws attention to the imminent 125th anniversary of the Von der Heydt-Museum in 2027. It is an invitation to initiate a conversation about the museum’s past and present by asking what wishes we all have for the museum.
