Where do they come from?
Well over 90 % of the artefacts originate from Germany and Europe. A small portion of the works, especially after 1945, stems from North and South America. Opening the collection to new currents, including international ones, is among the most important aims that the Von der Heydt-Museum has set for itself in coming years.
The historical artefacts from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas are predominantly donations and endowments from Wuppertal citizens. This is a secondary thread of the collection that is not being actively pursued and extended.
