The Von der Heydt-Museum conserves about 35,000 artworks.
These include more than 2,000 paintings, almost 700 sculptures and figurines, more than 800 photographs and about 30,000 works on paper. In addition there are several hundred decorative arts objects along with artefacts of non-European origin.
More than 2,000 artworks have been lost during the course of the museum’s history through exchange, sale, destruction, confiscation or restitution.
