The Lucio Fontana Foundation in Milan
The Fondazione Lucio Fontana is the custodian of the artist's legacy and is the main lender of around 50 works to the Wuppertal exhibition.
The Fondazione Lucio Fontana was founded in 1982 on the initiative of Teresita Rasini Fontana, Lucio Fontana's wife. Although it has been active in this form since the mid-1980s, its activities began much earlier, with the creation of the Lucio Fontana Archive around 1970.

From the outset, Teresita Rasini, together with a small group of professionals, began to archive Fontana's work carefully and on time, in order to protect and enhance her husband's oeuvre. Over time, this commitment has led to the recognition of a very large body of work, which is now contained in a constantly updated database. The Foundation has at its disposal a core of works by Fontana and other artists, as well as an extensive bibliographical, documentary and photographic archive.
After more than fifty years of work, the commitment to protect and promote Fontana's work remains constant. In order to pursue this objective, an Artistic Commission for the Recognition and Registration of Autograph Works was set up from the outset, alongside the Board of Directors, made up of Silvia Ardemagni (President), Luca Massimo Barbero and Maria Villa (Vice-President), which is still active today in order to define the cultural activities of the Foundation and to produce content capable of stimulating new readings and new narratives of the master's work.
